Beech Mountain is easily reached from the Interstate system. Major approaches are I-81 and I-181 from the north; I-85, I-40 and I-26 from the south; and I-77 from the east. The main highways leading to the High Country of North Carolina from the Interstates are US 221, US 321, US 421 and US 19E.
From either Boone or Linville, NC:
Follow NC 105 to NC 184 in Banner Elk which is at the base of Beech Mountain.
Be prepared when you visit Beech Mountain in the winter. We recommend four-wheel drive vehicles or that you carry a set of tire chains for your drive wheels. Hazardous driving conditions are a possibility in winter, and there may be times when four-wheel drive vehicles or tire chains will be required to reach Beech Mountain.
